Learning to drive is an important milestone, and BLNDC’s 6 Nations Driving School is helping community members gain the confidence and skills they need to drive safely and independently. Our programs are designed to make driver training in Burns Lake accessible, supportive, and effective for new learners.
Through our ICBC-approved Graduated Licensing Program (GLP) driving training course, learners who already hold their L license can take part in structured classroom and on-the-road training designed to help them prepare for their Novice (N) license. The course includes 16 hours of classroom learning, 12 hours of in-car instruction, and four hours of flexible or discretionary time to build real-world driving experience.
In addition to the GLP course, the Driving School also offers a two-day Knowledge Test Support Course to help new drivers prepare for their learner's test and understand the rules of the road. These programs give students the guidance they need, whether they are just starting or ready to move forward through the GLP Program in BC.
“This program is about more than just getting a license. It is about opening doors to new opportunities, improving independence, and supporting our community’s growth,” said BLNDC.
BLNDC recognizes that driving can create pathways to work, school, and community connection. Through Indigenous driver training opportunities such as our funded driving lessons and locally delivered GLP courses, participants can gain valuable skills that lead to long-term independence and employment.
The 6 Nations Driving School combines professional instruction with community values, providing students with a supportive environment that prioritizes safety, patience, and respect.
