A SPECIAL DAY FOR COMMUNITY

Celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day with Burns Lake Native Development Corporation at Spirit Square in Burns Lake, BC, on June 21, 2026. This special day brings together community members, Elders, families, local Nations, artisans, performers, vendors, sponsors, partners, and visitors for a day filled with culture, pride, and community spirit.

 

This year marks the 27th annual Indigenous Peoples' Day celebration, continuing a long-standing tradition that welcomes community members, neighbours, partners, and allies to gather and enjoy a day created for all ages. 

 

Free to attend. Everyone is welcome.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Indigenous Peoples' Day in Burns Lake is a full-day celebration for all ages.

 

  • Parade featuring local Indigenous communities and groups 

  • Indigenous Artisan Market with handmade goods, beadwork, clothing, and artwork from local creators

  • Live performances, including local musicians and traditional drum groups

  • Kids Corner with interactive and hands-on activities for children and families

  • Food Vendors and Food Trucks offering a range of delicious options

  • Fireworks to close out the evening

 

You will also experience cultural activities and traditions that reflect the richness and diversity of the communities represented throughout the day.

We are inviting vendors to join Indigenous Peoples' Day 2026. This is an opportunity to connect with the community, showcase your work, and be part of a well-established annual celebration.

 

All vendors are required to bring their own setup, including tables, chairs, and gazebos.​

ABOUT BURNS LAKE NATIVE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

Burns Lake Native Development Corporation (BLNDC) was founded on June 21, 1974, through the collaboration of local First Nations to support the economic and social advancement of Indigenous communities in the Burns Lake region. 

 

BLNDC works in collaboration with Indigenous Nations and others to create opportunities, increase participation in the economy, and support long-term prosperity and quality of life for the community it serves.
