Many people in British Columbia search for information about the GLP course in BC because getting a driver’s licence can feel confusing at first. At BLNDC, our goal is to make the process easier to understand and easier to access for community members in Burns Lake and surrounding areas.
The Graduated Licensing Program (GLP) is the system used in BC to help new drivers gain experience and skills before becoming fully licensed. The program is designed to improve safety and support new drivers as they build confidence on the road.
What Is the GLP Program?
The GLP program in BC has two main stages:
Learner (L) stage
Novice (N) stage
Before joining a GLP driving training course, you must already hold a valid Learner’s (L) licence. The GLP course focuses on helping drivers prepare for their Novice (N) licence through a combination of classroom learning and supervised driving time.
ICBC Approved GLP Driver Training Course at BLNDC
BLNDC’s 6 Nations Driving School offers an ICBC-approved GLP driver training course in Burns Lake. This course is designed for learners who are ready to move forward in the licensing process and want structured support along the way.
The GLP driving training course includes:
16 hours of classroom instruction
12 hours of in-car driving instruction
4 hours of flexible or discretionary driving time
This mix of learning helps drivers understand the rules of the road, practice real driving situations, and prepare for the Novice (N) road test.
Knowledge Test Support
In addition to the GLP course, BLNDC also offers a two-day Knowledge Test Support Course. This course is designed to help new drivers prepare for the Learner’s knowledge test by reviewing road signs, rules, and safe driving practices.
This is a structured course and is not offered as individual sessions.
Why Take a GLP Course Through BLNDC?
Taking a GLP driver training course in Burns Lake allows learners to train close to home with instructors who understand local roads and driving conditions.
BLNDC’s driving programs support:
Safe and responsible driving habits
Confidence behind the wheel
Greater independence for work, school, and daily life
Some participants may also be eligible for funded driving lessons, depending on program availability.
